Just 2 months till start of Ashes tour
As all cricket fans turn their attention to the IPL (which started this week), many have forgotten that it is just over two months until the start of the 2009 Ashes cricket series, the famous old series which pits England against Australia. As well as the test matches, there will be a total of seven ODI and two Twenty20 matches to be played between the two sides. The redeveloped Swalec Stadium in Cardiff will start the five-Test series, with the subsequent Tests at Lord’s, Edgbaston, Headingley and the Oval.
Australias visit provides plenty of betting opportunities, but with both English and Australian cricket in disarray it’s going to be hard to predict who to bet outright on. Australia will be favourites, and many might fancy a straight bet on the team from Down Under winning the series with pretty reasonable odds of 1.8. England can be taken at 3.25, with a drawn series avaliable at 6.5.
If these odds do not appeal then there will be plenty opportunity for betting on individual matches, and also betting in-play, as the tour gets underway on on June 24th.
