Los Angeles Lakers - Philadelphia 76ers
Home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings. Also the favorite has been better in most of the recent matches between the Lakers and the 76ers as the favorite is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings. The Lakers without Odom are just too much for Philadelphia at this point. Odom was suspended for one match after that game due to a flagrant foul against Boston’s Ray Allen. Odom is the Lakers second overall scorer with 14.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. After he blew a couple of spreads , Odom s suspension is honey for all the capers ….
Philadelphia will rely mainly on Andre Iguodala who has been scoring a lot even if the rest of the 76ers have been struggling. He averages 24.3 points in the 76ers last 6 games. The 76ers are also on a long road trip and this might hurt them. They have played 7 out of the last 9 games away from home.

Sacramento - Cleveland
In their previous meeting Kevin Martin scored 32 points while Devin Brown and Damon Jones pitched in 30 in a 93-91 Cavs win. There were 6 point road favorites. If it wasn’t for two 4Q meltdowns vs Phx/Phi/Den, Sac could’ve been 5-2 SU, and 6-1 ATS in their last 7, with their only ATS loss coming vs Boston…and there weren’t that bad until midway through the 3rd quarter. With the starting 5 of the Kings playing so well right now…their bench has been horrid, due to Artest/Martin/Bibby being hurt.
The Cavs have Boobie Gibson and Andy Varejao as their main bench contributors…allowing duds Hughes and Sasha Pavlovic to sit their useless asses down. Bron can’t be guarded by Salmons/Garcia as he outweighs both by 40lbs, so there’s going to be a lot of post ups and dribble drives. Outside of Boobie, the Cavs show no perimeter threat, and the combination of Miller/Moore should be able to contain Z/Gooden/Andy.

Toronto - Detroit
One of most interesting games of the day . This is the first national televised regular season game for the Raptors since Vince Carter was here.
A few important points :
* home team has won the last 8/10 meetings
* Raps coming home from a long road trip
* Pistons have Boston on saturday (back to back) so it s probable to see the starters having a litlle bit of downtime .
Chris Bosh scored 29 points against NO and Toronto, which lost three in a row in Portland, Seattle and Phoenix before winning two of its last three, rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit. Bosh averaged 24.0 points and 10.6 rebounds during the road trip for the Raptors, who have won six of their last eight at home. Jose Calderon chipped in 17 points against the Hornets and averaged 14.7 during the trip.
It was a brutal scheduling for the Raps who had a 7 game west coast trip during the holidays. They got 3 days off and have a Friday night game against the Pistons, place should be bumping. Hard to bet against the Pistons right now , but Toronto can make a game of it in the 2nd half.
Even though sounds a little bit weird …. but :

A pretty good yesterday , with Kings and Lakers covering , but with a huge blow out by the RAptors . But it s still 2-1 .
Tonight another 3 games , and the big game of the day .

Boston - Detroit
Boston will have revenge on their mind. Detroit is thinking you still need to beat us. Judging by the way Boston played the last 2 games they’ve been looking forward to this game. They struggled to put away Memphis, struggled to put away the McGrady-less Rockets. Regardless Boston is on a 8 game run and Detroit is on a 11 game run, on this run Detroit has covered all 11 games. Detroit is doing it on both ends right now. Holding opponents to an average of 84 points, while putting up an average of 100 ppg. During Boston’s 8 game run, they are averaging 101 ppg, and holding opponents to 90 ppg (that is quite deceiving because in one game Sac scored only 69, most of the other games opponents were in the mid 90’s). I don’t like how Ray Allen has been struggling lately. In the last 5 games he’s shooting only 38% and averaging 13 points. Possibly because he’s been banged up a bit lately. Its not going to get any easier tonight. With his declined play and Rondo’s decline play, Boston isn’t dominating teams like there were doing 3-4 weeks ago. Detroit has been playing fabulous. This is how you want to play heading into the playoffs. The scoring is balanced and the second unit is playing great. Sometimes even extending the lead while the starters are resting.
Detroit is a tough team . When they’re down 10, they don’t panic. The play smart and methodical. You hardly ever see Chauncey or Rip lose focus. Boston may be over anxious today, while Detroit will be calm and steady. Detroit continues to roll on their winning streak. So much more to say. Detroit is better and if you have seen the way they’ve played over the last 11 games, its undeniable.

New Orleans - Phoenix
New Orleans on a back to back, winning last night in GS. Not so fast. Phoenix is 103 at home. Thats great, however I said against Seattle, Phoenix is not the same team as they were last season beating teams by 20 every night was normal. This year they are grinding out games, falling behind and having to fight back. Or building leads and letting teams back in. I really don’t know why. However, they are piling up the wins 23-9 overall which is great, but they are not killing teams convincingly. New Orleans is playing great right now. Winning 8 of the last 10, 2-0 on their current road trip. Coming off a big win in GS, shows that New Orleans can play the uptempo game. When you have a point guard like Paul who will make good decisions with the ball, you can play that type of game. Even though running and gunning isn’t their style they can get out and run when the opportunity is there. New Orleans have already beaten Pheonix earlier this season in New Orleans, by 3 points. Right now I like the way New Orleans is playing and I don’t feel Phoenix is playing well enough to lay 8 points to a team playing at the level that New Orleans is playing. Phoenix may win, but by double digits, not likely.

Utah - Portland

Portland (20-13) won 13 straight from Dec. 3-30 before losing 111-101 to the Jazz (18-16) on Monday in Salt Lake City. Great winning streak by them , with a huge apport by B Roy .
Latest informations coming in : B Roy is out for tonight game. Against the Bulls Roy injured his tailbone with a hard fall earlier in the game. Roy, who leads Portland with 19.5 points per game, said he wasn’t moving as well at end of the game. He finished with another solid performance, however, going 7-of-15 from the field to go along with six rebounds, two steals and no turnovers.
So , big chance for the Jazz , get it fast !

Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns

The Suns listed as 7½-point favorites versus the Nuggets, while the game’s total is sitting at 227,5 .

Phoenix had 13 turnovers in Saturday’s 118-113 loss to New Orleans, falling as 8-point home favorites. The 231 points scored were OVER the posted total of 208.5. Suns really struggled in the 4th quart. and C Paul took control of the game .

The Nuggets (21-12) are riding their fourth winning streak of at least three games this season. They held the defending champion San Antonio Spurs to 37 percent shooting in an 80-77 defensive struggle on Wednesday, shot 54.3 percent in outscoring Minnesota 118-107 on Thursday, and beat Philadelphia 109-96 on Sunday night. The Nuggets defeated Philadelphia 109-06 as an 8.5-point favorite last time out. The combined score caused this game to be a PUSH on the posted over/under total (205).

Today , i see a hard game for the Suns . Denver is playing good lately and they defend better . Without “one of those days” for Barbosa or Bell and their 3pt madness … it s hard to go in the paint with Camby and Martin there. Atlanta vs. Cleveland
James opened 2008 with 36 points, 32 in the second half, in Cleveland’s win over Atlanta.
The Cavs have won 13 of their last 15 over the Hawks, including six straight in Atlanta.
- Road team is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings
- ATL lost by 4 as 5pt dogs in Ohio on January 2nd
- It is an utter mismatch at the forward positions and center tonight
- After ATL’s 5 game winning streak they are currently on a 4 game losing streak SU and 1-3 ATS
- Cavs are 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog (18-6 ATS as a dog of 0.5 - 4.5)
- Cavs are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 trips to Philips Arena
- ATL is 3-0 on 3 days rest but I don’t see them pouncing on the Cavs as Toronto did early on Sunday

Toronto vs. Philadelphia
The Raptors blew a 20-point lead and lost 93-90 to Cleveland on Sunday. It was the Raptors’ third straight home loss and dropped them to 8-8 there.
The 76ers return to the road after falling 87-83 to Milwaukee at home on Tuesday. Philadelphia, which went 2-4 on its longest road trip of the season prior to Tuesday, will try to avoid a season-high fifth straight loss.
Both of these teams are struggling badly. Philly just lost to a battered Bucks team, and managed to shoot only 40% on 80 shots at home. They pounded the paint for 52 points and added 19 FT’s which has actually been % 73 of their overall points in the last 4 games (67.2ppg). Now where do the Raptors struggle the most? Scoring in the paint and getting to the free throw line. The Raptors have been getting a little better recently in those categories, but still struggle with rebounding.
It s hard to bet against the Raptors on this one but , Philly is desperate for a good game and now it s a good timing for them . Two plays for this game .

Dallas vs. Detroit
Dallas had the league’s best record last season at 67-15, while Detroit led the East with 53 wins.
The Pistons will have to deal with another good team in the Mavericks, who are playing better lately thanks in part to the resurgence of Dirk Nowitzki. The sharpshooting forward got off to a slow start, scoring less than 20 points in 11 of his first 24 games, but lately has played more like he did during his MVP season in 2006-07.
Nowitzki is averaging 25.6 points and 9.2 rebounds in his last 10 games . I see him dominating tonight s game … there s a big revenge going on here after what happened last season ( The Pistons won in Dallas last season, and have gone 9-1 in their last 10 road games. )
Detroit had their 11-game win streak snapped with a 92-85 home loss to Boston on Saturday , which dropped them four games behind the Celtics.

Denver vs. Orlando

The Nuggets should be a much fresher team Friday after their fourth game in five nights resulted in a 137-115 loss at Phoenix on Monday.
Allen Iverson continued his stellar play with 32 points and Carmelo Anthony had 20 points and 14 rebounds, but Denver surrendered a franchise-record 20 3-pointers - second-most in NBA history.
Denver does well in their home court, the matchup favors Denver. Dwight Howard will be stopped by the trees of Denver (NENE, CAMBY the defensive specialist, and Kenyon Martin the athlete who came back. ) . Denvers home.. Denvers altitude will affect the stamina of Orlando … and Denver can run and gun and shoot lights out.. while Orlando can only shoot lights out.. leaning towards Denver here.
Iverson scored 30-plus points for the third straight game. He is averaging 33.0 points on 52.4 percent (44-for-84) shooting, including 10-for-21 from 3-point range, in his past four contests.
These teams split last season’s series, with each winning at home. Denver has won four straight at home against Orlando since an 89-80 loss on Dec. 20, 2002.

New York vs. Toronto
Toronto has struggled since winning a season-high four straight last month, losing seven of its last 10 games.
After blowing a 13-point fourth-quarter lead in a loss to Cleveland on Sunday, the Raptors took advantage of struggling Philadelphia for a 109-96 victory Wednesday.
Anthony Parker matched his season high with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Chris Bosh added 21 points for Toronto, which shot a season-best 55.1 percent (43-for-78) from the field.
New York is horrible at home (home court advantage does not apply here - , Ats Record of NY is horrible too (always good to go against them, you will be up by the end of the season). In terms of matchup i think NY has the advantage here because they are awfully talented but have no teamwork. In terms of playing style NY likes to run a one man show (fast break and both post plays) . . Toronto likes to play as a team (Good at the fast break but will abuse jump shots). . Hard game to call as NY just lost one at home and Toronto just won one ( motivation factors are available for both teams) …

Utah won each of their last two home games by 22 points - following Tuesday’s 111-89 win over Indiana with a 108-86 romp Thursday night over a Phoenix team missing three starters.
Rashard Lewis, is averaging 18.4 points in his first season with Orlando and has scored at least 20 in each of his past three games. He’s made 14 of 30 shots from 3-point range in that stretch, which included a 21-point effort at Denver.
Hedo Turkoglu has struggled recently. The team’s second-leading scorer (19.2 ppg) has made just 37.2 percent of his shots - including 3 of 17 from 3-point range - over his last four games. He scored eight points Friday, the first time this season he failed to reach double figures.
B2B for Orlando who got routed by a terrible Nuggets team after holding a 3 point lead in the 1H….While Orlando is a staggering 16-7 SU on the road for the year, they haven’t been playing like road champions in the past month going only 5-5 in their L10 SU…Jazz on the other hand are well rested after cruising to a freebie win vs the Suns and are a “home” team at 14-3 SU
Utah won 113-94 at Orlando on Dec. 21, but the Magic had taken six of the previous seven meetings in the series.

After a weekend with so many surprises , we have two solid NBA plays for tonight .

Seattle vs. Los Angeles

Andrew Bynum has been one of the big reasons for the Los Angeles Lakers performances this season. In the third quarter of their 100-99 home win over Memphis on Sunday, Bynum landed on teammate Lamar Odom’s foot and was helped off the court. Without him, the Lakers struggled to hold off the Grizzlies, who outscored them 29-20 in the fourth quarter. But Bryant scored 37 points for the second straight game and a late free throw by Kwame Brown, who is likely to start in place of Bynum, provided the winning margin. With Brown replacing Bynum - the offensive force of the Lakers lost a lot .
I think that the Lakers playing 3 games in 4 nights has a lot to do with this pick. The Sonics may even cover this one but they have to win a game or two for me to place serious money on them. If they are ever going to snap out of it, its going to be against a tired team. When teams are tired and don’t have the legs, the jump shots do not fall. The Sonics have a hard time scoring pts. It s surprising that this line was so high since Lakers are playing 3 out of 4.

Utah vs. Milwaukee
The Bucks are 5-17 on the road and looking to salvage one victory on their three-game Western Conference trip. They opened the trip losing 110-105 to Los Angeles Lakers on Friday before falling 122-114 to the Suns .
I couldn’t believe how high this line is . I really like the Jazz defense to shut down the Bucks. Remember, Bucks are going home after this game. This may be a throw away game. It looks like a blowout. I think Jazz are going to cover as well. Jerry Sloan will be on their asses after the magic scored 105 plus on them the other night. Last time they played they combined for 189. why the 20 pt jump? Because Bucks played Suns and Laker defenses Not that great of Defenses by the way. Jazz are better than that. This line will drop big to 208 maybe even 206 by game time. Get it now.

Detroit vs. Toronto

The Pistons closed out a four-game road trip with an embarrassing 89-65 loss at last-place New York on Sunday, during which they shot an abysmal 30.7 percent (23 of 75) from the field - nearly 17 percent below their season average. Richard Hamilton, who shot 1-for-7 and was held to a season-low three points against the Knicks and Tayshaun Prince missed all 10 of his shots .
The Raptors are looking for their 4th winning game .
Bosh, Toronto’s leader with 21.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, had 38 points and 14 rebounds to engineer a 116-109 double-overtime win over Portland on Sunday. Two nights earlier he scored 40 points and grabbed 11 boards in a 99-90 win at New York. He is averaging 29.0 points and 9.0 rebounds over the last six games, including 23 points and 15 rebounds against Detroit on Jan. 4.
Toronto’s Jose Calderon, who had a season-high 22 points Sunday, has also been hot of late. He’s averaging 15.3 points and 9.9 assists over the last seven games, including a 15-point, nine-assist effort against the Pistons.
It s tough to play in Detroit , but Raptors can turn this around . They have the energy to flip this on their side , and with a spread of 8 … today s bet is :

Another bad second half for the Raptors last night , and another loss for us . We ll continue today with another NBA free tip , this time a game with a lot of pressure on one side .

Indiana vs. Golden State
Those two teams played last Sunday , and Warriors scored nine of the game’s last 12 points to win 106-101. It was a good game for the Pacers , but from one point nothing worked for them .
Mike Dunleavy was booed throughout his first game back in Oakland on Sunday. When Dunleavy’s Indiana Pacers host the Warriors, Pacers fans will have a chance to greet Stephen Jackson the same way.
The main reason for this pick is the fact that O Neal and Tinsley are banged up for tonight s game . Tinsley played pretty sloppy on Sunday , and had an ugly foul against M. Ellis .
Jackson had 21 points and Baron Davis added 22 on Tuesday as Golden State beat Minnesota 105-98 for its third straight victory.
On their West Coast trip , the Pacers allowed 112,6 ppg and lost 4 out of 5 games .
GS is a solid team and M Ellis is playing his best basketball so far .. We ll stick with the Warriors , and we suggest :

After the Golden State’s blow out from last night .. there s not too many things that can be said . We have only three games today , so we ll focus on those .

Los Angeles vs. Phoenix

Los Angeles has won seven straight and 11 of 12 to take a one-half game lead over Phoenix (26-12) in the Pacific Division . The Lakers’ win streak is their longest in a single season since an 11-game run March 13-April 2, 2004.
Los Angeles extended its current streak with a 123-121 overtime victory at Seattle on Monday. In the Lakers’ first full game without center Andrew Bynum, who is expected to miss two months with a knee injury, Kobe Bryant scored a season-high 48 points, including the game-winning basket in overtime. Tonight Lakers will miss Bynum , Mihm , Radmanovic and Vujacic .
Suns are looking for revenge. These guys threw the Clippers game to beat the Lakers. You could tell they were looking ahead. No Bynum for LA . Lakers rebounding was affected in that Seattle game. Suns are healthy, very difficult to beat a team 3 times in a year. The only reason Lakers hang close, is cause Suns defense sucks. But celtics came out with motivation to beat the Lakers a few weeks back … This will happen with the Suns. The line tells you who is going to win. Why is a #1 seeded team in the west underdog to a team that just lost to the clippers?
Nash is averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 assists against the Lakers this season.
