Thoughts On Bet Trading

Posted on March 2nd, 2009 in Betting strategy by Raz

What are your thoughts on bet trading? Of course just like regular sports betting it involves both sports and gambling, but those ones are quite obvious. Here are some of my thoughts on the subject of bet trading.

Bet Trading

If you are sports betting at ordinary bookmakers, you are not betting against other players – but just as in a regular casino, you’re betting against the house. Even though this is the most common way of betting on sports, there are some internet bookers that offer real bet exchange , a sort of peer-to-peer gambling amongst players.

The only way for these bookers to make money is by taking a small commission on every winning bet, usually around 5%. Unquestionable largest of these sport books is Betfair, but it is also the one with the highest
commission fees. Other sites that offer trade bets but for a smaller fee is Betdaq and Sporting Options, but they have significantly less player traffic.

Sports betting in this way is very similar to the way internet poker is played. Or at least the way the bookies make their money on the players. Since poker players are not playing against the house, the poker room takes a small rake out of every pot played as a fee for playing at their site. In bet trading, it is hard to find other gamblers willing to take on your bets. The business concept of bet trading companies is to bring gamblers together, and just like the rake in poker, they make a small amount out of every placed bet.

Furthermore, as in internet poker, the bet trader with the most knowledge of the games will be walking away with the less experienced players’ money. The house (the bookie) will be making their money no matter who’s winning, just as the poker rooms do.

Regular Sports betting

In regular sports betting, players are presented with pre-set odds from the bookie. It is a take-it-or-leave-it sort of offer, where the bookies’ edge lies in the differential between the true odds of a certain scenario and the odds presented to the player.

Finding good sports picks has always been about getting the most profitable odds for a certain outcome, and make no mistake - it still is.
As long as you are able to find someone who is willing to take on your bet, this is where you make your money in bet trading as well.

Future of Bet Trading

It is my belief that the popularity of bet trading will continue to grow. Sport bets will always attract gamblers. As the biggest bet trading companies are faced with tougher competition, commission fees will go down and make the bet trading even more profitable for the players.

The odds of bet trading are already very attractive from a gambler’s perspective, and as more and more gamblers catch on to bet trading the faster sport bettors will abandon the old form of “bookie bets”.

NBA March rumors

Posted on March 4th, 2009 in News & Reviews by Raz

The New York Post reports that Joe Smith — whose contract was recently bought out by the Oklahoma City Thunder — might be on the verge of re-joining the Cleveland Cavaliers once he clears waivers.

LeBron James went on record on Monday to say he was in favor of the Cavs picking up Smith again, giving positive reviews to Smith as a teammate and for his work helping Cleveland down the stretch last year.

The Post also reported that the Lakers and the Hornets are expected to make runs at Smith, but that Cleveland is his expected destination.

The Washington Times reports that the NBA is expected to borrow $175 million on Thursday and distribute the funds among 15 of the league’s 30 teams, to assist those who are struggling the most during the economic recession.

The report does not name the 15 teams receiving financial assistance, other than noting that the Wizards have said they’re not one of them.

The story also notes that the NBA did not go shopping for the infusion of money, but that JP Morgan and Bank of America approached the NBA with unsolicited offers to loan the league money. Recognizing the increased rarity of available credit and the fact that numerous teams would be able to use the money, the NBA is expected to accept the loan.

The Houston Rockets today announced they have signed guard/forward James White to a 10-day contract. White becomes the 12th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2008-09 NBA Development League season, and the 130th overall since the league began play in 2001. NBA.com

The Denver Nuggets have suspended Carmelo Anthony for one game for an “in-game transgression” Sunday against Indiana. “There is a code of conduct that we take very seriously, especially from a leader and co-captain,” Rex Chapman, vice president of player personnel, said Monday. “Carmelo knows this and regrets what happened. He is a very competitive person and made a poor decision in the heat of the moment. We look forward to having him back on Thursday and will have no further comment at this time.”

Lakers vs Blazers

Lakers The Lakers open a three-game road trip Monday night, looking to avoid losing their seventh straight game in Portland against a Trail Blazers team seeking its 12th consecutive victory at the Rose Garden.

Los Angeles (50-12) owns the league’s best record and has built an eight-game lead atop the Western Conference, but looked rather ordinary a week ago after losses at Denver and Phoenix.

Blazers went 4-0 SU against the Lakers all in the Garden. These stats mean just as little as the 7-21 ats i’ve seen from the lakers in the last 28 and the 22-5 ats i’ve seen from the underdog in the last 27. 27 games ago Shaq was on the lakers… and the blazers were still sobbing over their choke in the western conference finals. History doesn’t mean much past 2 years ago.

What you need to consider is the Lakers outplayed them substantially in LA both meetings this year and that was with  Greg Oden. I know there are a lot of haters who say Oden is a bust, well you’re wrong. We all know stat sheets only cover so much but what Oden excels in doesn’t have a spot under the stat sheet. His presence down low that causes driving guards to kick out and run the shot clock down isn’t on the stat sheet. Channing Frye is sharing minues with Pryzbilla because of the Oden injury and is no match for any player on the Lakers.

The Blazers have looked good at home. They play up against good teams at home- beating Boston, Denver, Houston, Phoenix, etc. Playing down and barely beating bad teams at home- Indiana, Minnesota, losing to the Clippers in overtime.

Both teams are up and down. You never know what Lakers team you’re going to see. If they’re going to win by 20 or by 2 after a 2nd half hold. Blazers are the same way, do they shoot well or do they lose the first half by 10 just to come back and win the game by 1 on a last second shot by Roy?
Roy, who is averaging 28.3 points and shooting 61.8 percent in three home games this month, scored just 14 in Portland’s 96-76 loss to the Lakers in both teams’ season opener on Oct. 28. He missed the second meeting, a 100-86 Blazers loss on Jan. 4, with a strained right hamstring.

For tomorrow’s game i thought it would be a pk, or a Blazers -1.5. However the Lakers are -2,5 and I’m not sure what to think. I think that the Lakers will jump out to a 7-11 point lead by the half where my Lakers -2,5 line will look good.  However I see the Lakers with a strong 4th quarter holding off the Blazers.

Lebron James vs Dwight Howard

Posted on March 17th, 2009 in Sportsbetting free tips by Raz

One of the most intriguing games of the final month of the season takes place Tuesday night as LeBron James and Dwight Howard try to carry their teams to a key victory at Quicken Loans Arena. Orlando Magic against the almighty Cleveland Cavaliers.

Lebron JAmes

While Cleveland is a league-best 29-1 at home, Orlando has the best road record in the East at 23-10.
Orlando (49-17) is one of the few teams that has had the Cavaliers’ number in recent years, winning seven of the last nine meetings and three straight. The Magic also have won three in a row at Cleveland (53-13).

The Magic won the only meeting with Cleveland this season, 99-88 on Jan. 29, but that game was in Orlando and Cavs starters Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Delonte West were out. Both are expected to play in the rematch.

A few interesting facts in this great rematch :
Last time these 2 met the Cavs were working on nearly a 10 point cushion right before the half then the wheels fell off. The 2nd half was a joke. The referees had a major impact on that game. No homecourt calls for the Magic tonight.

The Magic were arguably playing their best ball of the season the last time these 2 met. This time there is no Nelson, but West and Z are present for this game.

The Cavs appear to be going through the motions with some of their smaller, less significant games recently. That leads me to believe that this will be a very focused, genuine effort to the best of their ability.

Since the Nelson injury there have been a handful of games in which the Magic have laid an egg and haven’t really shown up. When there is such a small margin for error as this game will be for the Magic, there is a chance that this could get ugly.

The line was set at 6. Not 2,3,….. Six is telling us who is expected to win this contest tonight.

Betting on Lebron is much better than betting against him.

It never hurts to bet on a team that has only lost 1 game at home all year and is 22-8 ATS @ home. Its obvious that they have been waiting for this game for quite awhile.
