The Nuggets (21-12) are riding their fourth winning streak of at least three games this season. They held the defending champion San Antonio Spurs to 37 percent shooting in an 80-77 defensive struggle on Wednesday, shot 54.3 percent in outscoring Minnesota 118-107 on Thursday, and beat Philadelphia 109-96 on Sunday night. The Nuggets defeated Philadelphia 109-06 as an 8.5-point favorite last time out. The combined score caused this game to be a PUSH on the posted over/under total (205).

Today , i see a hard game for the Suns . Denver is playing good lately and they defend better . Without “one of those days” for Barbosa or Bell and their 3pt madness … it s hard to go in the paint with Camby and Martin there. The line looks pretty high , that s why … We ll play this one on totals so :

A pretty good yesterday , with Kings and Lakers covering , but with a huge blow out by the RAptors . But it s still 2-1 .

Boston - Detroit
Boston will have revenge on their mind. Detroit is thinking you still need to beat us. Judging by the way Boston played the last 2 games they’ve been looking forward to this game. They struggled to put away Memphis, struggled to put away the McGrady-less Rockets. Regardless Boston is on a 8 game run and Detroit is on a 11 game run, on this run Detroit has covered all 11 games. Detroit is doing it on both ends right now. Holding opponents to an average of 84 points, while putting up an average of 100 ppg. During Boston’s 8 game run, they are averaging 101 ppg, and holding opponents to 90 ppg (that is quite deceiving because in one game Sac scored only 69, most of the other games opponents were in the mid 90’s). I don’t like how Ray Allen has been struggling lately. In the last 5 games he’s shooting only 38% and averaging 13 points. Possibly because he’s been banged up a bit lately. Its not going to get any easier tonight. With his declined play and Rondo’s decline play, Boston isn’t dominating teams like there were doing 3-4 weeks ago. Detroit has been playing fabulous. This is how you want to play heading into the playoffs. The scoring is balanced and the second unit is playing great. Sometimes even extending the lead while the starters are resting.
Detroit is a tough team . When they’re down 10, they don’t panic. The play smart and methodical. You hardly ever see Chauncey or Rip lose focus. Boston may be over anxious today, while Detroit will be calm and steady. Detroit continues to roll on their winning streak. So much more to say. Detroit is better and if you have seen the way they’ve played over the last 11 games, its undeniable.

New Orleans - Phoenix
New Orleans on a back to back, winning last night in GS. Not so fast. Phoenix is 103 at home. Thats great, however I said against Seattle, Phoenix is not the same team as they were last season beating teams by 20 every night was normal. This year they are grinding out games, falling behind and having to fight back. Or building leads and letting teams back in. I really don’t know why. However, they are piling up the wins 23-9 overall which is great, but they are not killing teams convincingly. New Orleans is playing great right now. Winning 8 of the last 10, 2-0 on their current road trip. Coming off a big win in GS, shows that New Orleans can play the uptempo game. When you have a point guard like Paul who will make good decisions with the ball, you can play that type of game. Even though running and gunning isn’t their style they can get out and run when the opportunity is there. New Orleans have already beaten Pheonix earlier this season in New Orleans, by 3 points. Right now I like the way New Orleans is playing and I don’t feel Phoenix is playing well enough to lay 8 points to a team playing at the level that New Orleans is playing. Phoenix may win, but by double digits, not likely.

Utah - Portland

Portland (20-13) won 13 straight from Dec. 3-30 before losing 111-101 to the Jazz (18-16) on Monday in Salt Lake City. Great winning streak by them , with a huge apport by B Roy .
Latest informations coming in : B Roy is out for tonight game. Against the Bulls Roy injured his tailbone with a hard fall earlier in the game. Roy, who leads Portland with 19.5 points per game, said he wasn’t moving as well at end of the game. He finished with another solid performance, however, going 7-of-15 from the field to go along with six rebounds, two steals and no turnovers.
So , big chance for the Jazz , get it fast !

The Lakers without Odom are just too much for Philadelphia at this point. Odom was suspended for one match after that game due to a flagrant foul against Boston’s Ray Allen. Odom is the Lakers second overall scorer with 14.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. After he blew a couple of spreads , Odom s suspension is honey for all the capers ….
Philadelphia will rely mainly on Andre Iguodala who has been scoring a lot even if the rest of the 76ers have been struggling. He averages 24.3 points in the 76ers last 6 games. The 76ers are also on a long road trip and this might hurt them. They have played 7 out of the last 9 games away from home.

Sacramento - Cleveland
In their previous meeting Kevin Martin scored 32 points while Devin Brown and Damon Jones pitched in 30 in a 93-91 Cavs win. There were 6 point road favorites. If it wasn’t for two 4Q meltdowns vs Phx/Phi/Den, Sac could’ve been 5-2 SU, and 6-1 ATS in their last 7, with their only ATS loss coming vs Boston…and there weren’t that bad until midway through the 3rd quarter. With the starting 5 of the Kings playing so well right now…their bench has been horrid, due to Artest/Martin/Bibby being hurt.
The Cavs have Boobie Gibson and Andy Varejao as their main bench contributors…allowing duds Hughes and Sasha Pavlovic to sit their useless asses down. Bron can’t be guarded by Salmons/Garcia as he outweighs both by 40lbs, so there’s going to be a lot of post ups and dribble drives. Outside of Boobie, the Cavs show no perimeter threat, and the combination of Miller/Moore should be able to contain Z/Gooden/Andy.

Toronto - Detroit
One of most interesting games of the day . This is the first national televised regular season game for the Raptors since Vince Carter was here.
A few important points :
* home team has won the last 8/10 meetings
* Raps coming home from a long road trip
* Pistons have Boston on saturday (back to back) so it s probable to see the starters having a litlle bit of downtime .
Chris Bosh scored 29 points against NO and Toronto, which lost three in a row in Portland, Seattle and Phoenix before winning two of its last three, rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit. Bosh averaged 24.0 points and 10.6 rebounds during the road trip for the Raptors, who have won six of their last eight at home. Jose Calderon chipped in 17 points against the Hornets and averaged 14.7 during the trip.
It was a brutal scheduling for the Raps who had a 7 game west coast trip during the holidays. They got 3 days off and have a Friday night game against the Pistons, place should be bumping. Hard to bet against the Pistons right now , but Toronto can make a game of it in the 2nd half.
Even though sounds a little bit weird …. but :

The good pick from yesterday makes me believe that we re back on the track , at least to finnish the year on a good run .

Lakers beat the Bulls in their last match - 103-91 -and have had two days rest before this match,the Cavs after losing now travel back to Cleveland for this match. The lakers this season are 7-4 against the spread on the road while the Cavs are 3-8 against the spread at home, b2b matches for the Cavs and it gets even worse with the Cavs only winning 2 of their 7 back to back matches this season. The Cavs shooting percentages are dropping with each game while the Lakers have remained consitent throughout the season and are still sitting at 50% from the field.
The Lakers are living off 3 point shots and are shooting and sinking on average 8 per game while the Cavs are averaging 4 per game and dropping,and last but not least the Lakers and Cavs are both conceeding the same amount of points from their opponents 101 points but the cavs average less than 9 points to the Lakers average game total.
These two teams couldn’t be going in more opposite directions. The Cavs just suffered the gravest embarassment an NBA team can face these days in getting blown out by the Bricks.

“I’m embarrassed,” Brown said. “Our defense this year has been very, very bad. Defensively, this is one of the worst performances that I’ve been a part of and that starts with me. I don’t think it can get any worse than this.”

“There’s not much to say,” said Ilgauskas , who had seven points and four rebounds. “It was a terrible performance from top to bottom. From the beginning till the end, we didn’t show up to play.”
Also , looks like Lebron had a small arguement with coach Brown during the Knicks game , a lot of tension and nerves coming from the Cavs . I think Lebron can t handle the Lakers on his own and Cle will fall apart tonight again.

A really weird thing going on with the Wizards - they have only 9 active players . If Butler and Jamieson have both been ill this week as certain sources announced … this might be a chance to lay them tonight . Definetly , not the best position for the hosts . Arenas,Daniels,Thomas all out for the Wizards,Butller and Jamison struggling with a virus could spell the end of the golden run for the Wizards,Stevenson has been good of late for the Wizards but he is no Butler or Jamieson and if indeed those two players are struggling with a virus then really the Bulls should win this match tonight.
Chicago (8-14) looks for a third straight win over Washington, it must bounce back from a 103-91 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last night . They played pretty good , excepting the first quarter , when they got slaughtered .
Luol Deng had 26 points and seven rebounds, and Kirk Hinrich added 17 points with eight assists for Chicago, which has alternated wins and losses over its last six contests. Deng has played well lately, averaging 27.5 in his last two contests. He averaged 19.8 points and 8 rebounds versus the Wizards last season.
The Bulls have won their last two against the Wizards and 4 of their last 5 against them,also in matches back to back this season the Bulls have averaged 100 points and against Washington .

We re ready for a new week of NBA betting , so , today Monday we have a really good chance to bounce back after last week bad luck . The first game of the week is Atlanta vs. Utah .
This month was a little bit of a struggle for the Jazz . A long series of loses and the team is now at 14W - 11L .
They had lost six straight overall before beating Seattle 96-75 at home on Saturday, limiting the SuperSonics to nine fourth-quarter points. The Jazz give up 99.5 points on average, but allowed 109.6 per game in their last five losses away from home.
Against Atlanta - Jazz have been dominant in recent years. They’ve won nine in a row in the series - including four in Atlanta - by an average of 14.4 points.

Atlanta (11-12) after a three game losing streak bounce back with a 93-84 victory over Charlotte on Saturday. Joe Johnson scored 31 points for the Hawks, who have not beaten the Jazz since 2002.
For Atlanta was a hard time with so many injuries - also today they ll miss Claxton , Lue , Stoudamire .

After such a disappointment , with two picks lost by half a point each in during this week , we ll try to change the luck in our favor with one of the best options of the day . I m still thinking at L Odom missing those free throws on Thursday night with 10 sec to go … but life goes on .

Today s game it s a battle from the West conference : Houston vs Dallas .

Dallas is finally healthy, with no injuries. And for the first time last night, Avery had an entire roster to pick from. They finally played a game together to get in the flow of things, and they got a good result. Now they’re playing Houston, without Alston, and T-Mac’s arm is still hurt. You’ve seen how Houston has really struggled with him out of the lineup. Rod Steele made some points a few night ago at how he helps spread the floor out and creates space for T-Mac and Ming to operate. The back up point guards are not even close to as good, as James usually will either pull up for a 3 or drive to the rim. And Francis hasn’t learned the offense well enough to run it either.

These guys played a few weeks ago, and Dallas came on top, stepping on the gas in the fourth quarter resulting in a monster run to beat the Rockets. Now you have George and Jones back. George, Jones and Hassell should be able to guard T-Mac well, and they have the ability to score too, which is a plus. Hopefully Diop and Dampier can contain Ming.

Jason Terry scored 25 points and reserve Jerry Stackhouse added 16 to lead the Dallas Mavericks past the New Orleans Hornets 89-80 last night . After giving up an average of 112 points in three games last week, the Mavericks had their best defensive performance since holding Portland to 80 on Nov. 30.

In summary, the Mavs have a lot more fire power this time around, and can play defense. The Rockets historically depend more on a stifling defense, and Adelman is trying to make them more offensive minded, but they’re not close to consistent yet.
No doubt , i have to say it , i will always take the points for Dallas , maybe only in special cases i won t . But tonight , the free NBA pick is :

The second play of the day is from Miami - Indiana game .

Riley has been calling out his team all season after their mediocre efforts this season but after the Thursday game I think there was extra disappointment in his voice because of how well the Heat had played at the back end of their West Coast trip. Him and the players probably thought that they had turned the corner only to come up with a lethargic performance first game after the road trip.

After losing five straight games at the start of December, including the first four of a road trip, the Heat closed the stretch with wins over the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns. Miami, however, got off to a slow start Thursday in a 104-91 loss to the Washington Wizards (they scored just 16 points in the opening quarter) and fell to an Eastern Conference-worst 2-7 at home. Shaq’s effort was just pathetic - he’s taken 10 shots or less in each of his last nine games. He entered the season getting nearly 18 a game over his career.

After a day break day , we re back with another NBA free tip . Today we have only 2 games in the league , and the chosen game is Los Angeles Lakers - San Antonio Spurs .

With Duncan expected to be sidelined again, the Spurs look to avoid losing two straight for the first time this season when they visit the Lakers on Thursday night.
Against against Golden State on Tuesday night, San Antonio’s five-game winning streak came to end with a 96-84 loss. Ginobili, averaging 20.8 points per game, was held to 13 on 4-for-14 shooting after recording consecutive 37-point performances.

The LAkers are doing good lately . Bynum is averaging 12.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in nine games as a starter. He matched a career high with 20 points and also had 11 rebounds and five blocked shots versus the Warriors in a 123-113 win . Also , Ronny Turiaf is expected to comeback on the Lakers bench .

I’ll take the rested Lakers tonight. Spurs wanna go back home. Parker is prob hearing an earful from Eva about this whole cheating scandle about him and some other chick. Manu says his hand is swollen and does not know why, go get it checked Gino…Unless Bonner goes for 50+ and 40 boards tonight, the Lakers should win quite easily .

The first game is Atlanta vs. Toronto
The Hawks are led by Joe Johnson and Josh Smith, who combined for 49 points in a 98-87 win at Orlando on Monday night. That was a pretty big surprise . But they gonna manage to do the same thing at home back to back ? I think NO .
Toronto received a great boost from Chris Bosh, who was outstanding in his return to the Raptors’ lineup . Also , tonight A Bargnani will be ready to comeback and play . TJ Ford is already in the lineup and will share minutes with the Spanish wizard J Calderon .
Bosh, who is averaging team highs of 18.9 points and 8 rebounds, had missed five games with a strained groin. He returned Sunday and had 21 points and 10 rebounds as Toronto beat Houston 93-80. Bargnani is averaging 11.9 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 45.2 percent (28-for-62) from 3-point range.
With so much energy from his returning players i see the Raptors having the first chance tonight .
Toronto has taken two straight games in the series and seven of the last 10 matchups.

Randy Wittman - the Wolves coach - returns to the sidelines after a three-game absence as the Timberwolves begin a quick East Coast road trip with a matchup against the Washington Wizards.
The Wizards also won 105-89 at Minnesota on Nov. 16, behind 29 points from Caron Butler. That contest was also the last for Wizards star Gilbert Arenas, who scored 27 in his final game before undergoing a second surgery on his left knee.
Butler helped Washington (10-10) to another win Sunday night, scoring 20 of his 28 points in the second half of a 104-89 home victory over New Jersey. Antawn Jamison added 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Wizards improved to 3-1 on their five-game homestand.
I see a really low scoring game tonight , and i really don t think that Butler will make a special game against the Wolves . The visitors will try to defend as much as they can - maybe the way they managed to keep the mighty Suns at 93 points on Saturday .

This game is like David and Goliath - but who s gonna win ? Nash and the Suns - looking to bounce back from a loss to the NBA’s worst team - play their first home game of the month Monday when they host the Heat. The Suns, though, had a five-game overall winning streak snapped after a 100-93 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who entered the game just 2-15.
No doubt that Phoenix will win tonight s game , but the spread it s at 11-12 , and i m not really confortble with that .
Miami (5-15) is one of the lowest-scoring teams in the NBA at 92.0 points per game, but guard Dwyane Wade has helped the Heat find a rhythm of late. The Heat have averaged 105.0 points their last four games, and the offensive surge finally paid dividends in a 100-94 victory Sunday over the Los Angeles Clippers that snapped a five-game losing streak. But how long Wade can score 35 points per game , especially on a back to back . Is there anyone else at Miami who cand support him ? the answer is NO .
Shaquille O’Neal added eight points and eight rebounds in 33 minutes in last night game , but again sat out down the stretch as Riley used Alonzo Mourning the final 1:07. O’Neal, who was critical of teammates earlier in the week for not getting him the ball more, has averaged just 9.4 points his last five games and 14.6 for the season - well off his career mark of 25.7 points per game. Looks like the old days have passed away for Shaq - he wasn t capable to score none of his 4 free throws .
In none of the last 10 games between those two teams the total went over 217 points. The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Phoenix’s last 5 games when playing Miami .

The Kings are a really good team at home ,this season, they are 7-2 overall on their home court. Unluckly K Martin got injured and they failed to reach 100 points and dropped two games since Martin suffered the injury, following a 97-87 home defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night with Saturday’s 101-97 loss at Denver. John Salmons, who is averaging 15.2 points, had 25 to lead the Kings and Beno Udrih added 24 against the Nuggets. The game against Nuggets was a really close one , but Francisco Garcia missed a 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left that would have given Sacramento a 100-99 lead .
Milwaukee, which has dropped seven of its last eight games overall , and lost last night in OT against Portland . Michael Redd, who was coming off a season-best, 41-point performance in Friday’s loss to Seattle, added 18 points. Redd is averaging 24 points per game.
I see Artest taking control of the game , with a big support from Udrih , and the Kings getting a nice win against a tired Bucks team .
