Can the Toronto Raptors improve in 2017?
Before last season, the Raptors suffered two straight early first-round playoff defeats with home court advantage. Going into last season, not many people knew what to make of the team, however by the end of it, they made believers out of everyone. They won 56 games en route to being the Eastern Conference’s second seed and continued their success in the playoffs. Despite needing two Game 7s to make it happen, the Raptors reached their first-ever Conference Finals, giving the eventual champion Cavaliers all they could ask for before bowing out in six games. After their most successful season in franchise history, it’ll be interesting to see how they’re able to follow it up this year.
The Toronto Raptors accomplished something last season what others thought was impossible. DeMar DeRozan resigned and aims to establish his legacy as the best Raptor ever.
DeRozan, who signed a hefty contract extension, feels the pressure but does not mind it at all. He knew the huge responsibility to duplicate their magical run last season that brought them to a Conference Finals appearance. It was the franchise first and hopefully, not the last.
Definitely at this point, the Cavs seem to be Raptor’s Nemesis and it’s hard to believe they can lose a best of 7 series. Adding Boston to the mix, Raptors will have a tough mission to repeat last year’s performance, reaching the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
