The NBA has created many great games, but we’ve pared down the top 10 best NBA games ever. The sense and magnitude of the games makes it essential that most of the games on our list be final round games. The basketball games that determined championships are the ones we bear in mind, more than a vague game in mid-season, although to someone at that mid-season barnburner, there might be basis for debate. With that in mind, here’s our list of the 10 best NBA games ever.

#7 March 2, 1962, Wild Chamberlain scores 100 points in one game as the Philadelphia Warriors defeat the New York Knicks 169 – 147.

#8 NBA Finals, 1980, game six. Magic Johnson plays center and gained 42 as the Lakers defeats Philadelphia.

#9 NBA Finals, 1976 game five. Upstart Phoenix Suns took the Celtics to three overtimes – longest final round game in history – before finally losing the series to Boston.

#10 NBA Finals, game seven 1995. Houston won over Phoenix 115-114. Houston faced elimination many times in the competition that year, but was a team of fate. Houston followed by nine with five minutes left in that competition. Houston went on a 22-11 tear to end the fight.
