Haas - Monaco
Tommy Haas defeated Albert Montanes of Spain 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals of the Stockholm Open on Wednesday.
Fifth-seeded Juan Monaco also reached the last eight, beating Swedish qualifier Filip Prpic 6-4, 6-4 and will meet Haas in Friday’s quarterfinals.
After splitting the first two sets, Haas broke Montanes’ serve at love to lead 3-1 and then held his serve the rest of the way.
“I was lucky to get the early break in the third set,” Haas said. “Overall, I’m pleased with the way I’ve been hitting the ball. So if I can just keep it in between the lines that will help.”
Haas, seeded fourth, is playing for the fourth time at the Royal Tennis Hall. His best result came in 2004 when he lost to Andre Agassi in the semifinals.
Overall , Haas is the best player here , and i don t see a problem for him in defeating Monaco. We ll go for a big one in this one .
